Style is not something innate. It is rather something formed over time, through unconscious resources. And even when it is complete, it remains always in process, being formed, polished, and improved. Fashion allows and encourages opposites to emerge, and the coldest season of the year is exactly the one that provides the largest repertoire for us to express our own style, free of stereotypes.
In this collection, the main proposal is the mix of the traditional with the modern. Be prepared for a profusion of multifaceted, apparently contrary and oftentimes overlapped, yet elegance-laden styles. An example of that are the laser cut-outs and the new experimentations with matelassé, some of the bets for the LEGASPI it-bags. In addition to the matte leathers with a mix of materials, there are the shiny – sometimes metalized, at other times lacquered – reptile skins like python and croco stealing the show. Classic shapes are impressive in their finishing details, filled with typical elements from the underground culture, such as studs, spikes, and chains.
Women’s shoes, in turn, are the ones which best lend themselves to experimentations and diversifications. So, this season, Sonia Müller exercises, with an even greater freedom, the conceptual vocation of her creations and, in a lavish display of her technical expertise, presents a collection featuring striking design, necessary silhouettes, desirable prints, and ready-to-wear hits. Retro icons, like the doll style or the Mary Jane style, as well as the classical pumps are the background for details and finishes that are as complex as they are modern. The colors are out of the ordinary, and unexpected combinations are allowed in well-dosed mixtures to fascinate and bemuse. Vibrant shades like blue, red and mustard are the base where the true key players of the season shine: black, gray, white, and nude.
Based on an extensive study of world trends, LEGASPI Sonia Müller explored this environment of contrasts, its shapes and colors, under the perspective of the designer’s own expertise: high technology that co-exists in harmony with the brand’s time-honored craft work, translating for the Brazilian market the seven styles that guide its winter 2013 collection.
The Punk Biker and All Black styles define the game of beauty and danger, where exotic leathers, spikes and fur live together in an atmosphere of fetishist glamour. The eternal fascination for the opposites is interpreted in the encounter of the masculine aesthetics of the Tomboy look with the ladylike posture of the Vintage style. The Baroque and Gold Era styles, in turn, immerse themselves in the high quality of the materials, making them rich without becoming extravagant, and classical without becoming boring. Meanwhile, the Urban Predator look reveals a sexy and powerful femininity, combining luxury and sophistication through animal prints.
As if women put together the precious items found throughout their journeys in a collage, an aspirational image, the LEGASPI Sonia Müller winter 2013 collection, once again, understands and transforms this unrevealed dream into unique and exclusive products.
